Just spent a few days in the French countryside, eating traditional French food and just catching up with family I haven't seen since I left for Liverpool. Fortunately, we haven't been affected by the bird flu, but the authorities have just asked to keep chickens in a closed safe place.
Miam. Would my stomach be considered an official safe place ? ;)
On TV, they keep saying that if you cook the chicken before eating it, then it's safe. But who would eat raw chichen anyway ("chicken tartar")?

The news in the UK is really paranoid about Bird Flu, some people are suggesting we should round up all the chickens lock them up and keep dosing them with drugs until we can be sure it will be safe.
They've been doing this for years its called battery farming.
Reports here say that cooking the chicken kills off the virus, apparently you can only catch it from living chickens. So don't go inviting any strange chickens into your house and you should be fine.

By the way, so true about battery farming...
But anyway, there are so many vegetarian people in England...
